I am not hearing nearly as much these days about the contemporary vs. traditional worship issue. Is the battle over?

There was one??

Maybe it's not a matter of style but a matter of substance regards of style of music or worship.

As I 2ble as a musician, I have plenty of hymns I can do....just in case.

Peace

Unfortunately, yes. I have seen churches split and even close their doors over this.

The wars are still going on.
There is another church in my city that we have had fellowship
with for many years. The former pastor recently retired and a
young man (first time pastor), stepped in. He soon added all the new
media worship aids. The old song books are collecting dust. And the older members who have been there 20,30, and even 40 years are slowly leaving
to find churches who are still singing "I'll Fly Away".
There has to be some kind of compromise on this issue!

I see several churches in our area advertising contemporary and traditional service times. It is good that they have found a happy medium. I believe that the body of Christ is steadily becoming more unified. That is why the uproar is fading out. However in some cases, older people are being run off because some leaders don't make the changes in a gentle way. In some cases it doesn't matter. The new music just isn't welcome. (Ps 96:1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.)
God bless

I have never had a problem worshipping God no matter what kind of music was playing. I truly believe that too much emphasis is placed on the type of music you should have during worship time. It would seem like a large portion of the Body of Christ has been told somewhere that in order to truly worship God you must have this or that kind of music. Whatever happened to a life lived in worship of God? Maybe if we as pastors, myself included, focused our preaching and teaching on the true meaning of worship our older members would want to " Shout to the Lord" and our younger ones would be "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms." Just a thought.

I had a new Christian ask me one time what all the arguments were about in church music. I began to explain to him about Hymns and praise and worship music old music and new music etc and he looked at me like I was dumb. Finally he said preacher they are all brand new to me. It gave me a whole new perspective on the situation.

The wars are still being fought; however, "Blended Worship" which provides some of each type of music could be the solution - it has been in our church! To God be the glory for the things he has done!

Blended seems to be the way to go, depending on Church makeup and size.  Our Church is still traditional.   They love the old hymns.   We just had a worship team meeting tonight.  As long as nothing is drug out and dead sounding I love it also.  I listen to a lot of contemporary Christian music on my own.  Our folks are committed followers and those hymns have great meaning for them.  I play some contemporary softly before and after services.  Some of our special music is contemporary.  But all in all we are very traditional and that's ok with me.
